MIAMI, FLORIDA – Businesswoman and architect Yermys Peña received the “Dominicans for the World: Women of the 21st Century” award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex), a distinction given to eight Dominican women who have broken traditional molds, redefining the role of women and projecting the Dominican Republic internationally.
Peña is the CEO of Construger and Studio YP, which have brought the Dominican name to international recognition. “I celebrate an achievement that goes beyond me. From being the first female commercial airline pilot to climbing Mount Everest, each of us has demonstrated that courage and talent know no bounds. As an architect and entrepreneur in the construction sector, I am deeply proud to be part of this courageous generation of women leading the way toward a sustainable and possibility-filled future,” said the architect.
Among the professional's achievements are the design and construction of the sustainable corporate building Vista 311, which has achieved LEED Gold certification, and the mixed-use Eco 23 Residences. Peña was selected in May of this year to lead the sustainability project and LEED certification for Visions Brickell Station in Miami, Florida, by the Urban Network Capital Group, as well as the Edgewaters Building and Aventura Harbor projects in Miami.

This recognition not only highlights her personal achievements, but also inspires future generations of Dominican women to follow in her footsteps, a press release notes.
Among the award recipients are Azilde Lissett Nuñez, the first Dominican woman to pilot a large-capacity commercial airliner; Betzaida Ubri Mateo, a physical education teacher and the first female coach of the national Under-17 women's soccer team; Dayanny De La Cruz, a chef and the first Latina to lead food and beverage operations for the Super Bowl in 2019; Mónika Infante Henríquez, the first female CEO of Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (AERODOM), a subsidiary of Vinci Airports; Thais Herrera, a prominent mountaineer and the first Dominican woman to climb Mount Everest; Onfalia Morillo Messina, the first female sports journalist; and Yissel Infante, the first female administrator of a professional baseball team in the Dominican Baseball League (LIDOM)/Los Gigantes del Cibao.
Yermys Peña is recognized for her work in disseminating information on topics related to finance and real estate investments, facilitating off-plan purchase models through her projects to achieve high returns. She is a frequent guest on Univision, Despierta América, Telemundo's La Mesa Caliente, HOLA! USA, VIX, Imagen Magazine, and contributes to other media outlets in the United States and the Dominican Republic.
Currently, he is designing and building vacation homes for celebrities such as María Celeste Arrarás, Julián Gil, and Clarissa Molina.
