SANTO DOMINGO. -The General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (DGAPP) and the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) launched the diploma course "Design and Structuring of Public Initiatives under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model", with the objective of strengthening the technical capacities of officials and professionals from the public and private sectors.

This training activity, aimed at public sector officials, executives of private entities and interested professionals, will begin on April 22 of this year at the aforementioned academy.

During the presentation of the diploma program, the executive director of the General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (DGAPP), Andrés Lugo Risk , highlighted that public-private partnerships are a key mechanism in the training of professionals committed to the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic.

Furthermore, he emphasized that, through this program, he guarantees an increase in jobs , which will attract foreign investors and promote the country's competitiveness.

Intec's Vice-Rector for Administration and Finance, Alliet Ortega, stated that building capacity in public-private partnerships is essential for the country's development, and is framed within the concept of the "triple helix, where the public, private and academic sectors operate, with the purpose of generating balanced socio-economic growth.".

He considered it vital that the Dominican Republic have more professionals trained in public-private partnerships, "not only in this house, Intec, but throughout the entire country.".

Izalia López, Deputy Director of Promotion at DGAPP, explained that "the program seeks to strengthen the skills of public and private sector professionals in structuring public investment projects through PPPs, ensuring that they comply with local regulations and international best practices.".

Carlos Reyes Gómez, director of Continuing Education at INTEC, encouraged the general public to register for the Diploma program, as it only has space for 40 people in order to guarantee high academic quality.

Diploma details

According to DGAPP and Intec , the program seeks to provide the necessary tools to identify , design and structure public initiatives aligned with the Multi-Year Public Sector Plan and the National Development Strategy, applying international practices.

The diploma course will last 40 hours, distributed over eight weeks, with a blended learning format (60% virtual and 40% in-person), and is aimed at public officials and professionals from all sectors.

The modules taught include: Global vision and national framework of PPPs, phases of PPP initiatives, project planning and prioritization, guidelines for the presentation of public PPP initiatives, and a final practical project.
