SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic returns this 2023 as a co-sponsor of FITUR, the International Tourism Fair, which will take place from January 18 to 22 in Madrid, Spain, and where the country's new tourist destination, Miches, will be showcased.
Once again, the land of merengue and bachata will arrive at FITUR to present the charms of the Caribbean, showcasing its beaches, its appealing climate, its world-class golf courses, a variety of sports, recreational, entertainment and exclusive cultural experiences.
“This year there is great anticipation surrounding the Dominican Republic’s participation in FITUR 2023, where we have achieved the maximum number of exhibitors allowed by IFEMA in the history of our participation in this important international tourism fair,” said David Collado, Minister of Tourism, who will lead the Dominican delegation at the global event.
He stated that the Dominican stand will feature six sponsors and 45 co-exhibitors, including the leading companies in the industry, as well as the largest commercial banks in the country.
“As every year, we will bring our diversified tourism offer to FITUR, demonstrating why we are the country with the best conditions for foreign investment,” Collado stated.
He stated that FITUR will be the perfect platform to showcase to the tourism world all the conditions and beauty that Miches offers as a destination in the Caribbean.
In addition to the Ministry of Tourism, the two official sponsors are Banco Popular and Banco de Reservas.
Also participating as sponsors are BHD Bank, Punta Cana, Cap Cana and ProMiches, as well as tourism companies.
The Dominican stand will feature a large cultural exhibition, artisans and folk ballet, as well as talks to showcase the beauty of the different destinations and the diversity of the Dominican tourism product.
Miches, a new destination
The country will promote the municipality of Miches as a tourist destination. Collado reiterated that the traditional annual event will showcase "the paradise of Miches, in partnership with Pro Miches.".
On December 6, 2022, President Luis Abinader inaugurated Temptation Miches Resort and Temptation Grand Miches Resort, two hotels from Original Group with which the government hopes to boost the municipality's economy and, along with other projects, turn Miches into a tourist hub.
