The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili, yesterday congratulated President Luis Abinader and Minister of Tourism David Collado on the Dominican Republic's achievement of reaching the goal of 10 million visitors, which he described as a milestone for Dominican tourism.
Through his X account (formerly Twitter), the UNWTO secretary highlights the Dominican Republic's leadership in world tourism.
"Congratulations to the Dominican Republic for receiving 10,000,000 visitors in 2023. We want to highlight the leadership of President @LuisAbinader and Minister of Tourism @DavidColladoM in this achievement. A milestone for Dominican tourism and all Dominicans!" Pololikashvili wrote on his social media.
In various settings, in different parts of the world, the Secretary-General of the UNWTO has recognized the Dominican Republic's leadership in tourism, during the administration of Minister Collado.
It is worth remembering that the Secretary-General of the UNWTO declared the Dominican Republic the first country in the world to achieve a full recovery of tourism, during an event in the historic Colonial City of Santo Domingo, the Dominican capital.
During the 118th meeting of the UNWTO executive committee, which took place in the country in May of this year, Pololikashvili highlighted the leadership that the Dominican Republic has earned due to its success story in tourism.
"We congratulate Minister David Collado and his team for the great work they have done and the success of this executive council meeting," said the UNWTO Secretary-General at the time.
