Today I look back and can only feel gratitude

By Bienvenido Paulino

Special for El Inmobiliario

I am celebrating 40 years since that February 1st, 1986, when a journey began that I never imagined would be so long, so challenging, and so rewarding.

I have witnessed the total transformation of our sector: from handwritten cards and newspaper ads to the digital age; from analog to technological; from waiting for the client in the office to going to meet them with tools we never even dreamed of before.

I have had the privilege of growing alongside the sector, contributing from the Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI) and the Association of Housing Builders and Developers (Acoprovi), being one of its founding partners, where in both I have served in different management positions, often as treasurer, and verifying that trust is earned with facts, consistency and responsibility.

It is no coincidence that, after so many years, only a few of us from that first generation are still here: staying relevant is a daily decision.

My time at CHT Real Estate, then at Direct Sales Real Estate, which is now Plusval Direct Sales Real Estate, and finally as part of the management team and partner of what is now Plusval Dominicana, has been a journey of constant learning, adaptation, and above all, purpose. I have seen how our work transforms the lives of our clients, but also how time separates those who improvise from those who build.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my wife, Veronica, and my children, Urania, Mariel, and Ramón, who understood and continue to understand the demands of this profession, the long hours, the absences, and the quiet sacrifices. Their support, patience, and love have been the foundation that has allowed me to sustain this path for so many years and to do so successfully.

Today I can proudly say that those who sow with honesty reap with peace. Transparency pays off. Ethics sustains. And work well done, even if it takes time, always finds its reward.

I feel deeply grateful, enthusiastic, and satisfied with the legacy we've built. Because beyond positions, brands, or stages, what remains is the name, the reputation, and the mark we leave on people, on our families, and on the industry.

To my fellow real estate professionals I say: this is a long-term commitment. It's not about trends, shortcuts, or immediate results. It's about resilience, adaptation, and staying true to your values, even when no one is watching.

The market changes, technology advances, and cycles come and go, but ethics, transparency, and consistency never go out of style. Those who understand this don't just sell properties: they build trust, reputation, and a future.

Keep sowing with integrity, even if the fruit is slow in coming. Because in the end, it's not the years that count, but how they were lived and what principles guided their work.

We keep meeting along the way…Those who believe in this profession, those who honor their word, and those who know that true success is remaining with dignity.

We continue with the same passion as the first day, but with the wisdom that only comes from years well lived.
