In Santiago, San Pedro de Macorís and San Francisco de Macorís, three fires coincided on Friday afternoon and evening, leaving seven homes destroyed and a nightclub partially damaged. Fortunately, there were no human losses, but six families were left homeless due to the magnitude of the fires.

At least two homes were completely destroyed and another partially destroyed during a fire that occurred last night in the La Unión sector of the southern area of Santiago .

The affected houses were inhabited by Haitians , who lost all their belongings when they were consumed by the flames.

Those affected stated that they tried to contact emergency services for several minutes, however, when they arrived there was not much that could be done.

A fire destroyed a large part of the Roof Club nightclub in San Francisco de Macorís , Duarte province. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Reports indicate that there were customers in the entertainment center when the fire , but they were able to escape unharmed. However, one person was assisted by firefighters and taken to the hospital after fainting from smoke inhalation.
Firefighters used four units to extinguish the fire, starting at 11:00 p.m. on Friday and finishing around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Yeuri Smith, the company's legal representative, lamented the situation and estimated the losses from the accident to be in the millions. "First, we must await the expert reports from the investigators of what happened today. Then we will provide a truthful answer to the people of San Francisco de Macorís. Therefore, we should not speculate.".
The fire chief explained that it was more difficult to extinguish the fire because the nightclub had layers of polystyrene to reduce noise to the outside, as it was located in a residential area. He also added that the exterior had an asphalt layer to prevent leaks, and that petroleum-based fires are difficult to extinguish with just water.
He also criticized the fact that firefighters do not have enough personnel to act more effectively in these types of emergencies.

This is the second time the Roof Club nightclub fire ; in 2018 another fire occurred there that affected part of the infrastructure.
