Interiors inspired by centuries of culture
- St. Regis is paying homage to the Limé Dolls (faceless dolls) of the Dominican Republic with its new iconic St. Regis Bar mural. The meaning of the faceless dolls carries with it a heritage dating back to the 16th century, reflecting the blend of African, European, and Indigenous identities, races, and cultures of the Dominican people.
- Taking inspiration from Cap Cana's wide selection of palm tree species, the rich textures, colors, and shadow patterns of the palm trees are emulated throughout the interior of the luxury resort.
- Taking inspiration from the Dominican Republic's national dance, merengue; the joy and playfulness of the dance are incorporated into the textures and patterns used in the carpets, marble, and sculptures throughout the luxury residential development.

What inspired you for the design?

When three sides of this site are surrounded by a course personally designed by Jack Nicklaus, it must be respected so as not to spoil it. In front, the majestic turquoise sea and the white sand beaches of the Caribbean. This is a dream location. As I recalled Jack Nicklaus's visits to the site when he came to create the designs and inspire the course layout, my inspiration came to design the hotel as if it were a golf hole within the expansive course. Both the St. Regis and Punta Espada complement each other. Both are at the top of their game. A marriage to remember. This is only half the reason when it comes to harmony. The other half is attributed to the esteemed clientele and statesmen who frequent this property. The St. Regis clientele appreciates beauty and has a taste that can only be described as precise and self-assured.

For centuries, the crystal-clear waters of the Dominican Republic have gently sculpted the island into the alluring landscapes we enjoy today. Water kissed by sea spray surges over the rocks, leaving delicate bubbles in its wake. As the water recedes, regaining its power, it shrinks in comparison to the island's mighty and majestic cliffs. This textural theme is a constant throughout the resort's design. Layered carpet patterns mimic the crystal-clear blue waters that wash over Cap Cana's beige and blush-hued sandy shores, which are also reflected in the beige, gray, green, and blue stones found in the residences. The patterns evoke the movement of the water, as well as the stunning rock formations along the beach and on the resort's golf course. Bedroom headboards intertwine Cap Cana's striking green and blue hues, echoing the sky.

I enjoy creating spaces that stir emotions, stimulating the senses and generating unforgettable experiences. The memories that come back to you when you close your eyes and relive the space as if you were still there are what, for me, bring out the romanticism of successful architecture. As a result, the subtle forms of organic architecture must complement the enigmatic views of this site, providing continuity and taking on the primary responsibility of leaving guests breathless within their surroundings. That is the element of surprise, and my company takes pride in creating them.
