SANTO DOMINGO. – The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) announced that a RD$2,000.00 Dominican peso banknote, series 2021, is in circulation starting December 1st. Its production was ordered through an international public tender in January 2021.
In a statement, the agency explained that the new banknote contains the same characteristics as the one currently in circulation, which will maintain its legal tender status for the payment of all public and private obligations.

Characteristics
The security features of the new banknote include a security thread that can be combined with the institutional visual identity logo; a raised geometric mark for the visually impaired; a watermark of the patriot Juan Pablo Duarte that is visible when the banknote is held up to the light; the horizontal serial number of each banknote; and microprinting in letters that can be seen with a magnifying glass, the note details.
Also included is the year of printing that identifies the series to which it belongs; an isotype with the visual identity of the BCRD; a latent image of small inverted lines forming an engraving with the initials 'BCRD'; and the vertical numbering that must be equal to the horizontal numbering.
