The alliance includes seven educational, social, and cultural initiatives that seek to offer growth opportunities for Dominicans.
SANTO DOMINGO - Banco BHD and the Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX) signed an inter-institutional agreement with the purpose of supporting Dominican communities abroad.
The project will include educational and cultural activities led by one of the parties, such as entrepreneurship workshops, audiovisual programs, community baseball tournaments, Dominican parades, and participation in several of the popular Dominican Weeks held around the world.
The agreement was signed by BHD's CEO, Fidelio Arturo Despradel, and the director of INDEX, Vice Minister and Ambassador Celinés Toribio, during the closing of the 3rd New York City Real Estate Fair. It stipulates that the financial institution will support several programs promoted and produced by INDEX, an entity under the Vice Ministry for Dominican Communities Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX).
As part of this agreement, the Dominican bank will make its team of experts available to provide financial training through "BHD Mujer x INDEX: Women Who Drive," a special program that will take place during Women's History Month and that empowers, trains, and connects Dominican women abroad. The training will focus on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and female leadership outside the home.
During the event, Despradel stated, “This alliance is part of our commitment to the Dominican diaspora. Wherever Dominicans may be, we want to promote their progress and contribute to their cultural, social, and economic development. This agreement allows us to celebrate our identity and the best of what we have to offer.”.
For her part, Ambassador Toribio stated that “with this agreement, we are supporting our Dominicans who are outside their homeland. Our institution’s number one mission is to accompany our compatriots, cultivate education, and promote Dominican identity abroad.”.
