They are promoting sustainable tourism with the construction of a new solar park in the eastern area

LA ALTAGRACIA.- The Punta Cana – Macao Energy Consortium (CEPM) and Bávaro Adventure Park celebrated the inauguration of a new photovoltaic project, as part of a joint effort to promote sustainability and consolidate the region as a benchmark for responsible and eco-efficient tourism.

With an installed capacity of 208 kWp, this system will cover 98.5% of the park's peak demand, guaranteeing a sustainable and reliable energy supply. Furthermore, it will contribute to reducing the park's carbon footprint through the use of renewable technologies, allowing it to operate more efficiently and in a more environmentally friendly manner. This project is part of CEPM's commitment to the energy transition in the eastern part of the country, consolidating the region as a zero-emissions tourist destination.

“We are proud to diversify and expand the use of renewable energy in the tourism value chain, bringing clean energy solutions to entertainment and adventure spaces,” said Oscar San Martín, General Manager of CEPM. “Having partners like Bávaro Adventure Park reinforces our conviction that this path toward decarbonization is possible and that together we can transform the Dominican tourism sector into a model of sustainability and resilience.”.

Bávaro Adventure Park, known for its focus on outdoor activities and its harmonious relationship with nature, continues to integrate sustainability at the heart of its operations. The installation of this photovoltaic plant joins other initiatives aimed at minimizing the park's ecological impact and ensuring that its activities are increasingly environmentally friendly.

“At Bávaro Adventure Park, we understand that sustainability is an ongoing process. With this new photovoltaic plant, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the environment and promoting responsible tourism. This project is also an opportunity to continue integrating renewable energy into our operations, minimizing our ecological footprint and contributing to the preservation of our natural environment,” stated Emmanuel Gilbert, Director of Operations at Bávaro Adventure Park.

This effort aligns with the park's guiding sustainability principles, which include promoting environmental education, creating sustainable employment in the local community, and implementing waste reduction, reuse, and recycling practices. Furthermore, the park has adopted the use of biodegradable materials and the preservation of local biodiversity as part of its business model.

This photovoltaic project reinforces CEPM's leadership in the region, which currently has 37 solar parks in operation and under construction, with a total capacity of 270 MWp. Of these, 21 are partnerships with international hotel chains. Furthermore, CEPM continues to advance its goal of making the eastern part of the country a carbon-neutral destination through the CEPM Zero initiative, utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower, and developing cutting-edge energy storage technology.
