SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications announced that from Tuesday night, May 2nd, until Saturday, May 6th, vehicular traffic will be closed on various overpasses located in Greater Santo Domingo due to maintenance work on these structures.
In each case, there will be a total closure and the hours to be in effect will be from 10:00 at night to 5:00 in the morning of the following day.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, among others.
From Tuesday until today, Thursday, the 27 de Febrero overpass will be closed completely.
Also, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Duarte highway overpass at Los Beisbolistas Avenue (dry bridge) will be completely closed.
Also, on Tuesday the closures affect the Luperón and 30 de Mayo overpasses; Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy (Southwest); Kennedy and Churchill (East-South); Charles de Gaulle and San Isidro and Charles and Carretera Mella; the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel.
Yesterday, Wednesday, the closures correspond to the Gregorio Luperón and Ozama bridges; the Ortega y Gasset and 27 de Febrero overpasses; the Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln overpasses, and the Máximo Gómez and Nicolás de Ovando overpasses, and the Ortega y Gasset-UASD tunnel.
Today, Thursday, the following overpasses will be closed: Quinto Centenario with Hermanos Pinzón Street, and Quinto Centenario with San Martín; the Konrad Adenauer Avenue underpass with Charles De Gaulle and Hermanas Mirabal; the Jacobo Majluta bridge (near the entrance to Guaricano); the Sánchez highway overpass with Independencia Avenue (Kilometer 12), and the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue.
The Ortega y Gasset-UASD Tunnel Control Center, the Las Américas Tunnel Control Center, and the long tunnel at 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill are all included in this work. These works do not require closure.
Today, Thursday, and tomorrow, Friday, the Duarte highway overpass at Monumental Avenue (Los Girasoles) will be closed.
On Friday the 5th, the closure corresponds to the bridges of 6 de Noviembre; Sánchez highway; Ramón Matías Mella and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez; the Churchill with Kennedy overpasses (South-West); Kennedy with Churchill (East-South) and Duarte with Duarte street (Los Alcarrizos).
Also, the dry bridges of Padre Castellanos with Francisco Rosario Sánchez Avenue; kilometer 14 of the Duarte highway; kilometer 13 Duarte with Republic of Colombia; kilometer 13 Duarte with Prolongación 27; Prolongación 27 with the 6 de Noviembre highway.
On Saturday the 6th, the overpasses or dry bridges that will be closed are at kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway with Prolongación 27; Kennedy express with Luperón (kilometer 9); kilometer 13 Duarte highway with República de Colombia; kilometer 14 of the Duarte highway; San Vicente de Paul with Avenida Venezuela.
