SANTO DOMINGO.- Surveyor Juan Villar González, recently appointed as president of the College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia), hopes that during his one-year term, he will achieve a salary adjustment for the members, so that they can earn a reasonable and more dignified wage.
“That the Codia has better representation before society, that it has benefits for its members with better social security, a salary adjustment for the members with a salary that is reasonable and more dignified,” the professional, who was sworn in on the 14th of this month of August 2023, told El Inmobiliario .
Villar González has scheduled in his program to launch "a broader continuing education plan at low cost or free, in addition to obtaining support for the Codia infrastructures we have with the construction of some and reconstruction of others.".
Sports are also part of his plan, and he says that during his term as president, he will offer support to the Codianos softball league.
During his swearing-in speech, he emphasized that he will work to strengthen and enhance the prestige of the institution for the benefit of Dominican society and ensure that Law 340-06, on Purchases and Contracts, is applied in all projects.
Who is the new president of Codia?
Juan Villar González is a surveyor. In his professional profile, he cites among his work experience having led the Irrigation and Drainage study for the Barahona sugar mill in 1984, the AGLIPO project in Nagua in 1985, the Higuey Aguacate project in 1989, and as a contractor for CAASD from 1990 to 1997.
His resume also includes having worked as head of Topography at the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) from 2020 to 2022, and as head of Appraisal and Expropriations at that agency until assuming the presidency of Codia on August 14th.
