Focused on reaffirming the commitment of young entrepreneurs to the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic, the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs ( ANJE ) held the meeting "Smart Cities and Sustainable Mobility", which included the participation of experts in different branches of the area who made valuable contributions on the subject.
Guatemala will strengthen relations with the country
The Guatemalan ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Javier Zepeda, is focused on strengthening relations between the two nations through three key areas: trade, tourism, and investment. He explained that these sectors, which will underpin his diplomatic efforts, build upon the work he has already been promoting in his country through his leadership in the business sector, specifically with the Association of Industries, which he headed from 2008 to 2021, prior to his appointment as ambassador in January 2022.
IMF anticipates uncertainty in the Dominican economy due to external factors
The economies of Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic are subject to an “unusually high degree of uncertainty” due to a confluence of external factors that will have lasting repercussions in the region, the International Monetary Fund said yesterday. However, it indicated that there is “a unique opportunity” to revitalize crucial reforms that will improve social conditions and reverse the deterioration of pre-existing problems, including unemployment, poverty, and inequality.
Fears of recession send oil, stock markets and the euro plummeting
oil prices fell sharply on Tuesday due to growing fears of a recession in major economies and amid rampant inflation.
Euro hits 20-year low against dollar
The euro traded below $1.03 yesterday, its lowest level since December 2002, as recession fears drove investors to seek refuge in the greenback. The euro was trading at $1.0258, down from $1.0433 in the final hours of European trading the previous day. The European Central Bank (ECB) set the euro's reference exchange rate at $1.0290.
Why does the government increase electricity rates every three months?
The reasons given by the Superintendency of Electricity (SIE) for increasing the electricity rate quarterly, since November of last year, are based primarily on the Dominican Electricity Sector signed in February of last year, in the administration of Luis Abinader, after being agreed upon with different social sectors.

Customs clears 30,000 containers in 24 hours or less in the first year of the program
