The new routes include the Russian cities of Kazan, Novosibirsk, Ufa, Rostov Oblast and Krasnoyarsk, operated by Ikar Airlines and Azur Air, with three monthly flights from each city.
PUNTA CANA, LA ALTAGRACIA. – The Punta Cana International Airport (AIPC) added 79 monthly flights on seven new routes and increased the frequency of existing routes between August 2020 and the first week of January 2022.
It also reported the reactivation of seven routes that had been cancelled due to the initial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism.
The AIPC management announced in a press release that the new routes include the Russian cities of Kazan, Novosibirsk, Ufa, Rostov Oblast and Krasnoyarsk, operated by Ikar Airlines and Azur Air, with three monthly flights from each city.
In addition, for the United States there are four weekly flights from American Airlines originating in Austin, Texas, and one weekly flight from Frontier Airlines from Atlanta, Georgia.
The note details that Tap Portugal also began frequent flights to Punta Cana with three weekly flights from Lisbon, Portugal; Swoop with three weekly flights from Toronto, Canada; Air Belgium with two weekly flights from Brussels, Belgium; and Sky Airlines Peru with three weekly flights departing from Lima, Peru.
Reactivation
Airlines that resumed flights during the same period include Royal Flight Airlines, with two to five weekly flights from Moscow, Russia; Aeroflot, with three to four weekly flights also from the Russian capital; TUI Netherlands, with two weekly flights from Amsterdam, Netherlands; TUI Airways, with six weekly flights connecting the English cities of London, Manchester, and Birmingham with Punta Cana; Gol Transportes Aéreos, with three weekly flights from Sao Paulo, Brazil; Level, with one weekly flight from Barcelona, Spain; and Corsair, with three weekly flights to Paris, Orly.

He also stated that this response from the airlines expresses confidence in the quality of services offered by Punta Cana International Airport and its success as the main terminal in the Caribbean region.
He recalled that in the last annual survey evaluating Dominican tourism services conducted by the Central Bank, the facilities of the Punta Cana International Airport won 72.4% as excellent, 22.6% as very good, and 3.9% as good, for a consolidated total of 98.9%, and in services, 99.7%.
