Amber Coast is the State's priority destination with 303 construction and remodeling projects for hotels, residences, businesses, health facilities, and logistics facilities, among others.
MADRID, SPAIN – The Amber Coast, Miches, and the relaunch of the Colonial City are the Dominican Republic's three newest tourism initiatives. These three destinations were presented at the 2022 International Tourism Fair (FITUR), according to a statement released by the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).
For these three new proposals, the country is seeking foreign hotel investment, as they have been identified as three places in which the country has a special interest in the coming years.
In the Amber Coast region, home to nearly 17% of the country's tourist accommodations, the focus is on developing and boosting tourism along the North Coast. This is the government's top priority project, encompassing 303 construction and renovation projects for hotels, residential developments, commercial establishments, healthcare facilities, and logistics centers, among others. The statement specifies that there is particular interest in the destinations of Puerto Plata and Sosúa.

Punta Bergantín already has more than 30 projects in 6 components: tourism and hotel, golf courses, urban center, innovation center, film studios and real estate, the statement details.
The Miches resort area aims to position itself as the new sustainable luxury destination for tourism investment, with investments exceeding US$100 million in hotels and other attractions in the area.
The relaunch of Santo Domingo's Colonial City will highlight the area's history and culture. It seeks to consolidate its position as a new leisure and business destination, for which the government has launched a US$100 billion revitalization program between 2022 and 2025, focusing on the restoration of houses, museums, and infrastructure in the Colonial City.
These destinations were presented at an event held today at Fitur with the presence of Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.
The report highlights that with more than 80,000 rooms and an investment of more than US$15 billion, the Dominican Republic is the preferred destination for foreign direct investment, ranked number one in Central America and the Caribbean.
