In New York, Tourism Minister David Collado began a promotional tour of the Dominican Republic as a tourist destination on Wednesday, which included the so-called Subway To Paradise at Grand Central Station, where more than 750,000 people travel each day.
Accompanied by business leaders and other officials, the official cut the ribbon and described the innovative promotional event, which aims to strengthen the main source market for tourists to the Dominican Republic.
He noted that more than 1.6 million tourists from New York visit the Caribbean country each year.
“This is a market that we must continue to nurture and work on. That’s why we’re here at the Grand Center station,” Collado said.
He reported that as part of this reactivation, which will extend until December 28, five subway cars feature "beautiful" images of different destinations in the Dominican Republic.
The presence of the Dominican Republic is also felt at different points in the station, which expects to receive more than 11.6 million visitors by the end of the year.
During Wednesday's activities, passersby enjoyed a Dominican gastronomic showcase and the infectious merengue music through the artistic performances that took place.
