SANTO DOMINGO.- The National District Prosecutor's Office announced yesterday, Monday, that it has set up a team of professionals to receive complaints from the families and victims affected by the collapse that occurred on April 8 at the Jet Set nightclub, a tragedy that left 232 people dead and nearly 200 injured.
The agency explained that those interested in filing complaints and becoming plaintiffs or civil actors should go to the Citizen Services Department, located at gate 108 of the Prosecutor's Office building. For those who lack the necessary financial resources, the Prosecutor's Office stated that they can receive free assistance through the National Legal Representation Service for Victims.
Authorities indicated that the injured must present a medical diagnosis issued by their attending physician and their identification document, while the relatives of the deceased victims must present the corresponding death certificate.
International firm
Likewise, the international firm Silva & Silva, PA, based in Coral Gables, Florida, made itself available to assist foreign victims of the collapse.
The law firm, which specializes in litigation for high-profile structural disasters, announced that its partner, attorney Benjamin Fernandez, will be in Santo Domingo to coordinate consultations and potential lawsuits in the United States.
“We are deeply committed to ensuring accountability and obtaining appropriate compensation for the victims and their families,” said Carlos Silva, partner at Silva & Silva, reaffirming the firm’s commitment to the Dominican community, which they have historically supported in cases of high-impact tragedies.
