SANTO DOMINGO – La Nacional Savings and Loan Association continues its national expansion plan with the opening of its 51st branch in the city of La Vega. With this opening, the institution reaffirms its commitment to the growth and development of the region.
The new branch aims to continue promoting savings, facilitating access to credit for housing projects and supporting the development of SMEs, as well as contributing to banking inclusion, fundamental pillars in La Nacional's more than 50 years of service.
In this regard, the institution's executive vice president, Gustavo Zuluaga Alam, emphasized: "I proudly affirm that our operations are guided by the values that define us: integrity, approachability, optimism, creativity, and excellence. We work to promote the common good in our nation. This commitment can be attested to by our valued vegan clients, who have placed their trust in the credibility, stability, experience, and integrity that characterize our organization."
The arrival of La Nacional in La Vega reflects the recognition of the province's economic importance. A market study conducted by the institution confirmed the region's significant contribution to the country's financial system, as the development of various industries has transformed the area's economic profile.
An example of this is the existence of the Free Trade Zone, where textile products and other materials are manufactured.
Furthermore, both Constanza and Jarabacoa have capitalized on their scenic beauty and climate to attract tourists. Ecotourism and adventure tourism in Jarabacoa (with activities such as kayaking, paragliding, mountaineering, etc.) has gained increasing prominence in recent years.
For Tomás Pimentel, Vice President of Business, this new office is a source of pride, as it represents the institution's tradition and its presence in a city distinguished by its constant progress. The branch will serve the more than 282,000 residents of the city, as well as the 447,000 residents of the province.
Pimentel also highlighted that the province ranks sixth in terms of balance sheet share in local currency, driven by credit card balances, and that, in terms of deposits, it ranks fourth in total balance of funds in local currency. Furthermore, he emphasized the growth in savings (2.5%) and deposits, reflecting encouraging economic growth of 2.1% as of the end of March 2025, compared to the end of 2024.
