SANTO DOMINGO. -The Ministry of Tourism announced yesterday that starting Saturday, July 26, it will launch its new tourism promotion project, "Ritmo de la Costa" (Rhythm of the Coast), which will take place in different provinces and will run until November 29.
This plan aims to significantly impact the provinces of Santo Domingo, La Romana, Samaná, San Cristóbal and María Trinidad Sánchez through a series of tourist and cultural activities.
“The main purpose of ‘Ritmo de la Costa’ is to promote local tourism, providing communities with attractive cultural and artistic experiences, and at the same time stimulate and promote merengue, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,” highlights a press release from Mitur.
He explains that through monthly activations, which will take place on the last Saturday of each month, the aim is also to highlight the importance of public spaces and promote social cohesion in each of the destinations involved.
The initiative will begin on Saturday, July 26th on the boardwalk of the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, with the presentation of outstanding orchestras.
The following month, in August, Ritmo de la Costa will take place on the Caleta boardwalk in La Romana, while in September, the new platform will leave its mark of joy on the newly inaugurated Samaná boardwalk.
Through “Ritmo de la Costa” we seek to highlight the cultural richness of the country and provide visitors, both national and foreign, with memorable experiences that strengthen the appreciation for our music and traditions.
