Tourism Minister David Collado said, for his part, that as part of this plan, the merchants on the beaches to be intervened will receive the transformation of their spaces and training on the quality of their services, improving their economy and that of their families, with a vision of urban planning that will attract more tourists.
Santo Domingo. – The Government will invest more than 3 billion pesos in the renovation of some 25 beaches, and through this plan, training and financing will be provided to benefit hundreds of families residing in these tourist areas.
President Luis Abinader and Minister of Tourism David Collado led the launch of the National Plan for Reorganization, Regeneration, Training and Financing for Associations and Informal Vendors on the beaches.
The activity took place at the San Lázaro club where thousands of tour guides, small business owners and representatives of associations from those coastal areas throughout the country participated.
With the sports center packed, President Luis Abinader loudly declared that reviving tourism has been a joint effort that “has been worthwhile, thinking of the Dominican worker,” receiving applause and cheers from those attending the event.
He emphasized that "boosting tourism has made us proud to have the highest foreign exchange reserves the Dominican Republic has ever had at the Central Bank.".
He added that the face of those benefits of tourism growth, the product of tireless work, "is each and every one of you," addressing those present.

He stated that more than three thousand beach vendors from all over the country have recovered their sales and are part of the project to renovate and reorganize these tourist spaces.
“And we started a program in which we are going to renovate 25 beaches and today we are in Macao, in Miches, Guayacanes I and II, Las Galeras, Los Patos, and we are going to Palenque, Puerto Plata and all the beaches of the country with a budget of more than 3 billion pesos,” the official proclaimed.
“I want to express my pride and satisfaction in working with President Luis Abinader, the man who has supported tourism the most in the history of the country,” Collado said.
At this event, President Abinader received recognition from vendors' associations.

Also speaking were the directors of the Professional Technical Institute (INFOTEP), Rafael Santos, and of Promipyme, Porfirio Peralta, who presented their programs focused on training and education for entrepreneurs and informal merchants, as well as financing at low interest rates.
