SANTO DOMINGO – Central Bank Governor Héctor Valdez Albizu affirmed yesterday that the country is protected due to the sound banking management of the country's institutions, which, he stated, have contributed to making the Dominican Republic an example of how to operate safely and without risk.
The governor of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD), speaking at the opening of the ninth edition of Economic and Financial Week, said that this event is very important for the world, as unexpected situations have arisen in some international banks, which the Federal Reserve of the United States, the European Central Bank, Japan, and Switzerland will help to address liquidity problems in some financial institutions.

In that context, Valdez Albizu indicated that the Dominican Republic is in a shielding situation.
“It is in an enviable position of equity capitalization, solvency, and close management of its operations, adjusted to the rules and regulations established by the Monetary Board,” the governor of the entity stated.

The ninth edition of the Economic and Financial Week is carried out as part of the institutional social responsibility program called “Central Classroom for Economic and Financial Education”, in coordination with the international foundation “Child & Youth Finance”, and the participation of 40 national institutions.
For five days, from Monday, March 20th to Friday, March 24th, the Central Bank is opening its doors wide so that the general population, but especially children and young students, can receive information and guidance on economics and finance through talks, conferences, workshops, theater, film, stories, games and guided tours of the Numismatic and Philatelic Museum, he said.

to developing your economic and financial skills” was prepared jointly by the institutions that make up the National Strategy for Economic and Financial Education, with the purpose of contributing to a greater knowledge and a better understanding of economics and finance by the population.
This guide, which will be available free of charge to all interested parties, offers information in simple language and with abundant graphic support on saving and financial planning, the rights of the financial user, price stability, the payment system of the Dominican Republic, the National Development Strategy, financial mathematics, the financial administration of the State, financial education for SMEs, financial culture, the stock market and the pension system.
The guide was developed with input from Abancord, ABA, Central Bank, Banreservas, Capgefi, the Ministries of Economy, Planning and Development; Education; Finance; Industry, Commerce and MSMEs; the Presidency of the Republic; and the Superintendencies of Banks; Securities Market; and Pensions.
During Economic and Financial Week, 91 activities will take place, and there will be a conference on “Artificial Intelligence: from trend to reality.
