SANTO DOMINGO.- Starting this Wednesday, a 200.00 Dominican peso banknote, series 2020, will be in circulation, which will contain a new security thread, according to the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD).
This banknote, whose production was ordered through an international public tender in February 2020, contains the same security features as the RD$200.00 Dominican peso banknotes currently in circulation, which will remain valid for the payment of all public and private obligations.
The features it has with the incorporation of the security thread are that it will have a color change from pink to green when the banknote is tilted, being combinable with the isotype of the institutional visual identity; it also contains the denomination value in digits and has a window shape.
The new issue maintains previous characteristics, with a more pronounced mark for the blind ; the watermark with the patriot Juan Pablo Duarte that can be seen when held up to the light; and the identification number of the banknote in a horizontal position, on the upper left side, which is equal to the vertical numbering located on the right side.
It also preserves the microprinting in very small letters; the year of printing located at the bottom of the front; the isotype with the visual identity of the BCRD; and a latent image of an engraving with the initials “BCRD”.
This banknote is issued under the provisions contained in Articles 228, 229 and 230 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic; and Article 25, paragraphs a) and c) of the Monetary and Financial Law No. 183-02.
