Starting this June, the airline W2fly will add 18 flights from Madrid and Portugal to the Dominican Republic in its schedule.
This was reported yesterday by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, from Madrid, Spain, after concluding a strategic meeting with Sabina Fluxà, CEO of the Iberostar Group and Gabriel Subías, CEO of W2M.
“These 18 new W2fly flights, starting this month, are the result of the effort we have been making to continue recovering the European market,” said Collado.
During the meeting with Fluxá and Subías, the current situation of the Spanish tourism market was discussed, as well as various opportunities to strengthen the presence and connectivity of the destination in this important source market.
That meeting took place after a successful encounter with more than 250 travel agents and tour operators from the Spanish market, in which Collado presented the strengths and beauty of the Dominican Republic.
During that roadshow, the official showcased new tourist destinations, such as Miches, Puerto Plata with the Punta Bergantín project, and Cabarete, highlighted for its potential as a destination for wind and water sports, according to a press release.
“Spain has always held a very special place for us because of what it represents, as an ally of tourism and our historical ties,” said the Dominican Minister of Tourism.
