They attribute the situation to a lack of government policy, improvisation, disorder, indolence, and the deafness of the authorities who do not allow them to hear the community's outcry
Due to the critical condition of the buildings, several schools in San Francisco de Macorís did not start the school year yesterday, demanding that the Ministry of Education urgently repair the conditions of the schools that threaten to collapse.
During the pandemic, communities informed education authorities about the terrible condition of the physical structure of several schools, complaints that were ignored, so classes will continue to be postponed due to the fear of the educational community that they will collapse and cause a tragedy.
“They never under any circumstances paid the slightest attention to this reality, so today at the start of the school year we have several centers in SFM, not only the Eugenio Cruz Almánzar school, but others that will not start the year in person,” declared Robert Frías, community leader in a video broadcast yesterday by the program El Jarabe de Zapete.
The list of demands also includes administrative support, teaching staff, restrooms, and other necessities. “The conditions do not exist to guarantee the minimum level of hygiene and prevent the spread of Covid-19. The sole responsibility for this situation lies with the education authorities.”.

For Frías, the lack of government policy, improvisation, disorder, and indolence are characteristic elements of the current authorities, who do not pay attention to or listen to the reality of the community members.
Consuelo Rodríguez, president of the teachers' union and pedagogical unit of the Teachers' Association (ADP), denounced the state of neglect at the Paulina Valenzuela School. "With just one tremor, it could collapse on top of us, so we are at risk, the entire educational community.".
