SANTO DOMINGO. -The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will close several structures in Greater Santo Domingo to vehicular traffic from this Tuesday until Saturday, May 4, including overpasses and bridges, in order to carry out maintenance work.
In all cases, closing times will be between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am the following day.
The work to be carried out includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, and lower area.
Maintenance will be performed on the Sánchez highway overpass at the intersection with Independencia Avenue (Kilometer 12) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Tuesday also sees closures in both directions of the overpasses at Luperón Avenue with the 30 de Mayo highway; Charles de Gaulle with the Mella highway and with the San Isidro highway; and the one at Winston Churchill Avenue with John F. Kennedy.
On Wednesday there will be closures at the overpasses of Ortega y Gasset and 27 de Febrero avenues, Máximo Gómez with Duarte (dry bridge), the Ortega y Gasset avenue tunnel, the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset avenues, Máximo Gómez with Nicolás de Ovando, and the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges.
On Thursday, the overpasses of the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, San Martín Avenue, and Hermanos Pinzón Street, as well as the Núñez de Cáceres Avenue tunnel, will be completely closed.
Also, the grade separation at the intersection of Konrad Adenauer and Hermanas Mirabal avenues, and the Jacobo Majluta bridge (near the entrance to Guaricano).
On Friday and Saturday, the operation will take place at the overpasses of the Duarte Highway with República de Colombia and Prolongación 27 de Febrero (Kilometer 13), and at Kilometer 14 of the Duarte Highway (dry bridge).
Friday corresponds to the Duarte highway overpass with Duarte street (Los Alcarrizos), the bridges of the 6 de Noviembre highway, Sánchez road, Ramón Matías Mella, and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez and the grade separations of the Padre Castellanos avenues with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez (dry bridge), and Prolongación 27 de Febrero with the 6 de Noviembre highway.
In addition, electrical maintenance will be carried out in the control centers of the tunnels of the Ortega y Gasset (UASD), Las Américas, and 27 de Febrero avenues between Lincoln and Churchill; these works do not require closure.
On Saturday, May 4, the following overpasses will be closed: John F. Kennedy Expressway with Luperón Avenue (Kilometer 9), Duarte Highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, República de Colombia, and San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Venezuela.
