SANTO DOMINGO - The Ministry of Public Works and Communications announced that starting tonight, Monday, May 8, and continuing until Saturday, May 13, vehicular traffic will be closed on various overpasses, including bridges, located in Greater Santo Domingo and the province of Puerto Plata, due to maintenance work on these structures.
In each case, there will be a total closure and the hours to be in effect will be from 10:00 at night to 5:00 in the morning of the following day.
The work to be carried out includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, among others.
From this Monday until Wednesday, the Duarte highway overpass at Los Beisbolistas Avenue (entrance to Manoguayabo) will be partially closed.
On Monday, the tunnel on Núñez de Cáceres Avenue, the Juan Bosch and Duarte bridges, and the overpass on 27 de Febrero Avenue will also be closed.
On Tuesday, the underpasses at the intersections of 27 de Febrero Avenue and Tiradentes Avenue, and John F. Kennedy Avenue and Máximo Gómez Avenue will be closed. Additionally, the tunnels at the intersections of 27 de Febrero Avenue and Abraham Lincoln and Churchill Avenues, Las Américas Avenue and Altamira-Puerto Plata Avenue, and the overpass at the intersection of John F. Kennedy Avenue and Ortega y Gasset Avenue will be closed.
For this Wednesday, the closures correspond to the Gregorio Luperón and Francisco J. Peynado bridges; the underpasses of 27 de Febrero with Defilló, Carmen Mendoza, Núñez de Cáceres and with Privada; the overpasses of John F. Kennedy with Lope de Vega, Tiradentes and Lincoln and the tunnel of Ortega y Gasset avenue.
On Thursday and Friday, the Duarte highway overpass at Monumental Avenue and the Konrad Adenauer Avenue underpass at Hermanas Mirabal Avenue will be closed.
On Thursday, the overpasses at the intersections of 27 de Febrero Avenue with Ortega y Gasset Avenue and Duarte Highway with Sánchez Street (Piedra Blanca); the Floating Bridge over the Ozama River and the underpasses at 27 de Febrero Avenue with Máximo Gómez Avenue, 25 de Febrero Avenue with España Avenue, with Faro a Colón, San Vicente de Paul, the highway to San Isidro and with Marginal Las Américas will be closed.
Also on Thursday, the highways to San Isidro with the Las Américas highway, and Las Américas with the Las Américas marginal road, will be closed.
On Friday the 12th, the closure corresponds to the overpasses of the Las Américas highway with José Francisco Peña Gómez street (Boca Chica), with Puerto Caucedo road, 6th and 7th streets (La Caleta), Route 66 (both directions), with Hípica avenue, and the new Las Américas overpass.
Also, the Santo Domingo-Samaná overpasses and the Jubey-Boca Chica road.
On Saturday the 13th, the underpasses or dry bridges that will be closed are located on San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Las Américas and Venezuela Avenue, Plaza de la Bandera, Reyes Católicos Avenue with Respaldo 42 Street, Zoo Avenue, and Ramón Cáceres.
The Ortega y Gasset-UASD Tunnel Control Center, the Las Américas Tunnel Control Center, and the long tunnel at 27 de Febrero with Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill. These works do not require closure.
