President Abinader delivers 985 property title certificates in Nigua, San Cristóbal

Nigua, San Cristóbal.- President Luis Abinader delivered property title certificates for lots and homes to 985 families in this municipality on Thursday, benefiting more than 3,940 people.

“Nobody gives you anything for free here. Here, you are given what is yours,” the governor told the beneficiaries, after highlighting that the land titling policy is one of the things he is most proud of during his administration.

The objective of this plan is to continue improving the quality of life of all Dominicans by providing them with an environment of peace, security and tranquility.

The land, located in Nigua Sur I and Puerta Blanca, comprises an area of 320,404.17 square meters.

“Today here, and with your support, we are taking another step in eliminating informality in land ownership and moving towards a Dominican Republic where the value of people's property is promoted,” the president added.

The State's investment for the delivery of these lands was 4 million 255 thousand 181.23 pesos, saving each of the beneficiary families the sum of 78 thousand 800 pesos, reported the director of the Permanent Commission for Land Titling of the State (CPTTE), Mérido Torres.

“The residents of Nigua are overflowing with joy, peace, and satisfaction, and that is the best demonstration that change is impacting the lives of those most in need, putting an end to decades of abuses against those who do not have their property title,” the official emphasized.

The smiles on the faces of the people who received their titles denote that the 55-year wait for them to become definitive owners is over, one of the great dreams of humble and working-class Dominican families, which is made a reality through the CPTTE and the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD).

The words of gratitude were spoken by Rafael Yobanny Aquino, who said that in those lands his grandparents raised his parents, and his children are raising their grandchildren.

“Now we enjoy a secure future and we possess a title that you, Mr. President, have given us, and we are going for more,” Aquino stated.

Among others who received their degrees are Rosa Peguero, Marianela De Los Santos, Felipe Florentino, María del Carmen, Ramón Antonio Pérez, Florencia Ozorio, Juan Francisco Guillén, Rosa Isabela Jiménez, Petronila Guillén, among others.

The director of the IAD, Francisco Guillermo García, said that the property rights that are now placed in their hands have incalculable value; they now have greater legal security and economic independence, being eligible for credit in public and private banks.

Likewise, the provincial governor, Pura Casilla, expressed her satisfaction with the work and effort of President Abinader's administration.

“Know that we will continue working to issue more land titles in this province,” the governor of San Cristóbal announced.

The event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz; the administrator of the Agricultural Bank, Fernando Durán; the directors of the National Cadastre, Héctor Pérez Mirambeaux; of the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), Efraín Toribio; of the Price Stabilization Institute (Inespre), Iván Hernández and of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI), Olmedo Caba.

Likewise, the president of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Petroleum Refinery (Refidomsa), Leonardo Aguilera;

Representatives Margarita Tejeda and Frank Junior Guerrero; the municipal mayor of San Gregorio de Nigua, Jorge Ortiz Carela; the liaison of the Executive Branch with the Titling Commission, Efrén Cuello; the regional sub-director south of the CPTTE, Duarte Méndez and the reverend father Henry Villar.
