Popular receives three awards at the Best Digital Banks awards 

SANTO DOMINGO – Banco Popular Dominicano announced that it received three awards at the 26th edition of the World's Best Digital Banks Awards, presented by the financial magazine Global Finance, most notably the awards for best mobile banking application and best digital consumer bank in the Dominican Republic.

The financial institution also won the award for the bank with the best digital transformation model, both nationally and in Latin America, thus confirming Banco Popular's robust strategy, aimed at attracting and serving its customers through innovative, efficient and secure digital solutions, as well as its ability to transform the banking experience in the Dominican Republic and the region.

“These awards reflect our commitment to digital transformation, always putting the customer at the center of our innovation,” said Christopher Paniagua, CEO of Banco Popular.

The criteria evaluated by Global Finance included the strength of the digital customer acquisition strategy, the success in channel adoption, user growth, the variety of its digital portfolio, tangible benefits for customers, as well as the quality of the design and functionality of its web and mobile platforms.

Innovation and digital leadership

Currently, more than 1.5 million digital users access Banco Popular's services. Over 90% of the bank's services are available online, resulting in greater speed, security, and convenience for its customers.

Regarding service channels, more than 71% of customers use the Popular App, which in 2024 exceeded 100 million transactions, with a year-on-year growth of 46%.

In the last two years, the volume of mobile transactions increased to 154.9 million operations, with a year-on-year growth of 30%, of which 46% corresponded to person-to-person payments.

Regarding the website, with 42 million transactions in the last two years, it has established itself as a key platform for digital users. Service payment transactions represent 45% of the total, making it the most frequent activity through this service channel.
