SANTO DOMINGO. - Grupo Popular and Banco Popular Dominicano held a recognition ceremony in honor of Marino D. Espinal, who has been appointed as Emeritus Advisor to the Boards of Directors of both entities, in recognition of his outstanding career, institutional commitment and valuable contributions for more than 40 years to the financial group.
The distinction as emeritus advisor of the Boards of Directors of Grupo Popular and Banco Popular Dominicano is the highest honor granted in both companies.
During the ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Popular, Manuel A. Grullón, recognized Marino D. Espinal's life of service and leadership. "Mr. Espinal's career constitutes, for all of us, a living legacy of extraordinary value, which resonates in the present and will accompany the future of our financial organization," Grullón emphasized.
In his words of thanks, Mr. Espinal expressed that he closes “this stage with deep gratitude and the satisfaction of having contributed to the growth of a solid grassroots organization, committed to the development of the country and to future generations.”.
Exemplary commitment
Since joining in 1981, Espinal has held key positions as a member of the Boards of Directors within the Popular Group, standing out as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco Popular Dominicano, of which he also served as secretary, and, since 1988, as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Popular Group.
Similarly, he made significant contributions as chairman of the Appointments and Remuneration Committees of both Councils; as a member and chairman of the Executive and Strategic Committees of Grupo Popular and Banco Popular, respectively; and as vice-chairman of the Credit Committee of Banco Popular Dominicano.
He combined these responsibilities with his role as a prominent businessman, heading the firm Daniel Espinal, SAS; also serving as president of Industria Farmacéutica del Caribe, SAS (INFACA) and president of Juste Internacional, SAS.
The tribute included the presentation of a commemorative plaque and the unveiling of his portrait, a work by the distinguished artist Miguel Núñez, which is part of the gallery of emeritus advisors of the Popular Group.
The recognition ceremony was attended by the main executives of Grupo Popular and Banco Popular Dominicano, including Christopher Paniagua, CEO of Banco Popular, and René Grullón Finet, CEO of Grupo Popular.
Also present were members of both Boards of Directors, senior executives such as senior executive vice presidents and executive vice presidents, and especially the children and grandchildren of Marino D. Espinal, who proudly and affectionately accompanied him in this well-deserved tribute to his legacy.
