SANTO DOMINGO – The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Paíno Henríquez, officially assumed office, emphasizing his commitment to working towards a greener future and a nation that serves as a beacon of sustainability.
“This is a moment that reinforces our political and social convictions. We are on a path of certainty, generating the changes that our Dominican Republic demands,” Henríquez stated.
He emphasized his enthusiasm for serving the community and his intention to continue the work of his predecessors, highlighting Miguel Ceara Hatton's efforts in waste management and Orlando Jorge Mera's inspiring legacy.
Henríquez affirmed that his focus will be on maintaining and strengthening existing public policies, with a firm commitment to environmental protection. “There will be no radical overhauls or personal grandstanding. My task is to continue and deepen the efforts already underway, guaranteeing the protection of our natural resources for future generations,” he emphasized.
“We will be the zealous protectors of one of our country’s greatest assets: the environment,” the new minister Paíno Henríquez emphasized, adding, “We will not hesitate to bring down the full force of the law in defense of our natural resources.”.
In his speech, the new minister expressed his commitment to several key areas, including watershed management, protected areas, and adaptation to climate change.
Henríquez announced the promotion of the Sustainable Dominican Plan and the renewal of the Sustainable Production and Consumption Roadmap, in addition to promoting green jobs and responsible business practices.
Paíno Henríquez addressed the members of the Ministry of the Environment during an event held in the lobby of the building that houses the institution, calling for collaboration among all to achieve an integrated vision of sustainable development that respects the environment and benefits all Dominicans. “Our work is not only a challenge, but an opportunity to make a real difference,” he concluded.
The new Minister of Environment and Natural Resources expressed his determination to face the challenges with firmness, guaranteeing that everything necessary will be done to protect the natural environment of the Dominican Republic and promote a greener and more prosperous future.
