Orieta García: “I have learned that to practice this profession you must be dedicated, disciplined, and above all, persevering.”

SANTO DOMINGO – Orietta García, a real estate agent with RE/MAX Metropolitana, understands that selling a house represents a real estate agent reaching their goal. But more than that, “nothing compares to seeing the look of satisfaction and joy on your client’s face when they find that property they so desperately needed or wanted.”

And besides that, getting on board the real estate bandwagon revealed something else: “I’ve learned that to practice this profession you not only need knowledge of sales techniques, persuasion techniques, a network of contacts and friends, or to stay up-to-date on economic data, but you also need to be dedicated, disciplined, and above all, persevering.”

The hotelier and marketing professional entered the real estate world just a year ago, a sector she had long wanted to be a part of. She is a Junior Associate of the pioneering franchise that is a leader in the country’s real estate sector, and she is part of Myrian Parra’s team.

“I studied hospitality and marketing, and my positions have always been in sales. Many years ago, I considered moving into real estate, but it wasn't until a year ago that I decided to take this important step. I aim to be productive, contribute to my household financially, and set an example for my children of dedicated work, while also being able to assist people who need help in this field,” says García, answering questions for El Inmobiliario .

She reveals that the year she has been working in real estate has been a period of significant personal and professional growth because it allows her to stay active and feel productive. No two days are the same, and meeting and interacting with so many people is a great experience.

She enjoys selling real estate because it allows her to develop holistically and independently, while also enabling her to continue applying her marketing and sales skills. It's a profession that keeps her active and up-to-date.

García participates weekly in meetings at the office where she works, where current topics are discussed and personal experiences are shared, helping her stay informed about market trends and developments. "Both Metropolitana and the regional office maintain a weekly schedule of courses, workshops, talks, and certifications on various current topics of interest, in which I try to actively participate," she says.

She mentions that she completed her most recent course last July on Artificial Intelligence applied to the real estate industry.

Although born in Santo Domingo, García grew up in the tourist destination of La Romana, in the east of the country, where her parents settled when she was three months old. "I was raised there, educated there, and have great friends with whom I shared my wonderful childhood years. Then I came to the capital to study at the university."

The real estate business is currently viewed as complex because there is still no brokerage law or code of ethics to govern and regulate the practice of such an important profession in the country.
