SANTO DOMINGO. The Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) reported yesterday, Thursday, that the Santo Domingo Metro reached the figure of 88,785,240 users transported in the first 10 months of this year 2023.
Opret explained that between January and October of this year, the Santo Domingo Metro experienced an increase of 1,293,201 users compared to the same period in 2019, the year prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"This data supports the position of the metro as the preferred transport option for citizens," the entity said in a press release.
The document adds that, according to projections, the year 2023 is expected to reach a total of 108 million users.
"These numbers underline the strength and constant confidence that the population places in the Santo Domingo Metro and Line 1 of the Cable Car, as safe, efficient, fast and accessible transportation options in the city," he stressed.
“OPRET values the loyalty of its users and reaffirms its commitment to expanding the Santo Domingo Metro services as a priority supported by President Luis Abinader. This effort focuses on improving mass transit services, thereby increasing the quality of life for the population,” the institution reported.
He added that this achievement reflects Opret's commitment to providing high-quality service to citizens, facilitating the transportation of hundreds of thousands of people every day.
"The record number of users in the first ten months of 2023 demonstrates the continued success and consistent quality with which Opret provides its services, as well as highlighting its relevance in the daily lives of Dominicans.".
