SANTO DOMINGO. -The Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET) announced today the work of placing the first two beams at the intersection of Prolongación 27 de Febrero with the Duarte highway.
The company reported that this progress is part of the construction of Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro, which will connect Los Alcarrizos with the capital's mass transit system and establishes a strategic provision for future integration with the Metropolitan Train, whose construction was announced by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and is in the structuring phase.
The installation of these beams aims to ensure that service on Metro Line 2 is not interrupted when the future line connecting Prolongación 27 de Febrero with Plaza de la Bandera is built in one of its stages.
This strategy ensures full integration between existing lines and those that will be developed in the coming years, aligning with the new master plan for the expansion of the Santo Domingo mass transit system, a press release highlights.
“The placement of these beams reflects OPRET’s commitment to strategic planning and sustainable development. This step is key to the interconnection of the current Lines 1 and 2 of the Santo Domingo Metro, Lines 1 and 2 of the Santo Domingo Cable Car, the recently announced Line 3 of the cable car, and the future Metropolitan Train, which will be a fundamental pillar of urban transportation in the capital,” highlighted engineer Rafael Santos Pérez, executive director of OPRET.
The official said that the works not only represent an advance in the mobility of citizens, but also consolidate the vision of an efficient, sustainable and fully integrated public transport for the benefit of the country.
