SANTO DOMINGO – The National Statistics Office (ONE) begins data collection today, Tuesday, October 19, for the National Household Survey of Multiple Purposes (Enhogar 2021). Interviewers will visit households throughout the country as part of the survey.
The head of the ONE's Survey Department, Willy Otáñez, called on the population to welcome those who will come to their homes to collect information, after confirming that they are properly identified, with ID cards and uniforms.
Otáñez also explained that the ONE has considered all COVID-19 safety measures, detailing that all personnel involved in the Enhogar 2021 data collection process are vaccinated, and are required to wear masks and follow the health protocols suggested by the health authorities.
The topics covered by Enhogar 2021 are : prevalence of food insecurity in the population ; coronavirus vaccination coverage ; functioning or disability .
The survey also addresses the educational and economic characteristics of individuals; the proportion of time spent on housework; and access to and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) by households and individuals, according to a press release.

According to the head of the Survey Department at the National Statistics Office, obtaining accurate data on these issues will allow authorities and agencies that design and implement state policies and policies of national interest to make sound decisions. "Good data, good policies," he emphasized.
“With the results that can be obtained from this survey, decision-makers will have data to create policies on education, economic, social and health matters,” explained Willy Otáñez.
The National Household Survey (Enhogar) has been conducted since 2004 to meet the demand for economic, social, and environmental information. This year, data will be collected over a two-month period, from October 19 to December 19, 2021. Key findings from the 2021 Enhogar Survey
The Enhogar process involves five stages: planning, design, data collection, data processing, and reporting of collected data.
127 people will participate in this process, including interviewers, supervisors, national supervisors, quality supervisors, and field managers.
The interviewers who visit homes will be properly uniformed and identified with an institutional ID card that can be requested by the public.
