The new phase will directly impact the corridors of John F. Kennedy Avenue and 27 de Febrero Avenue.
SANTO DOMINGO. -The Transportation Cabinet announced this Friday that next Sunday it will begin phase IV of the left turn restriction , as part of the Comprehensive Traffic Management Strategy “RD Se Mueve”, aimed at optimizing traffic flow, reducing congestion and improving road safety on the main corridors of the National District.
During the first three phases, traffic flow has already been reorganized at 13 intersections on strategic avenues such as Lope de Vega, Tiradentes, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill and Máximo Gómez 30% have been recorded , demonstrating the positive impact of these measures, according to a press release.
John F. Kennedy Avenue 27 de Febrero Avenue , starting with the optimization of the Máximo Gómez–John F. Kennedy , which will go from four to three phases of operation.
This adjustment involves restricting left turns on John F. Kennedy Avenue southbound via Maximo Gomez ( east-south ) and on John F. Kennedy Avenue northbound via Maximo Gomez ( west-north ), which will allow for traffic flow
For the restricted turn on John F. Kennedy southbound onto Máximo Gómez, drivers can take San Martín Avenue and turn left onto Máximo Gómez Avenue , or use Paseo de los Aviadores Street to merge onto San Martín and from there connect to Máximo Gómez southbound.
Regarding the restriction on John F. Kennedy northbound via Máximo Gómez, the alternate route is to continue east , turn right onto Paseo de los Ferreteros , then onto Mayor Valverde street , and finally access Máximo Gómez avenue heading north .
After a two-week period of raising awareness and providing guidance to drivers, enforcement is now underway at the intersections of Lope de Vega, Tiradentes, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln and Máximo Gómez avenues, thus reinforcing compliance with the measure and ensuring its effectiveness in reducing congestion .
It was also highlighted that the routes will be available on traffic platforms such as Waze , and it was reiterated that these measures are being implemented gradually and in a planned , with the commitment to improve mobility, guarantee road safety and facilitate the adaptation of citizens.
