SANTO DOMINGO.- The real estate business seems to be in vogue, given the growth the industry has experienced in recent years and the rise of real estate tourism with Airbnb and the current government's approach, which have made the Dominican Republic a focus for major global investors.
Dominican television personalities, renowned for their work as communicators, have made the leap into the world of real estate sales, combining their roles, attracted by the business and service opportunities offered by being part of the process of acquiring a home, or serving as a bridge for a timely investment.
Although she has been involved in the real estate world for more than 20 years, it is now that Nikauly De la Mota has made her work as a real estate advisor more visible, a profession that she says she has liked since she was young, and for which she prepared herself to ensure that her first purchase was a smart investment.
“For over 20 years I studied real estate to buy my first property. Since it was going to be a long-term debt, I prepared myself to make it a wise and financially intelligent investment. Since then, I have helped many family members and friends acquire their properties by representing them as their real estate agent.”.

Thanks to that knowledge as a diplomat, she adds, she was able to present the State's projects for Dominicans abroad so they could acquire their first properties in the country, such as Ciudad Juan Bosch, where she sold several units (note that she did not earn commissions for representing the Dominican State) "achieving today that satisfaction as a public servant," the prominent businesswoman comments in conversation with El Inmobiliario, a digital newspaper.
That experience fueled her passion for the profession, given the opportunity to help her clients conduct business in a pleasant way and, most importantly, to promote the country and its positive attributes. “I believe I am the Dominican most proud to have been born in this land, God’s paradise,” she explains.
In every commitment she undertakes, Nikauly champions thorough preparation. She holds two certifications from the AEI (Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies) for the courses the organization offers to train real estate agents. She believes that prior training and preparation are essential to achieving excellence, and therefore also holds accreditation from CRS International (Real Estate Advancement Practices).
"And I continue to train and grow to provide the service that those who choose me as a real estate advisor deserve, and to make good investments.".
New Planet Properties is the registered name of her company, which will operate online as Nikauly Properties, but already represents major real estate and construction companies both in the Dominican Republic and abroad. She
has focused on second homes in the country's tourist destinations, catering to those looking to invest and own a home to disconnect; in addition to affordable properties to help Dominicans living abroad acquire their first home in the country.
Immersing herself in the real estate world has led Nikauly to discover much more than she imagined. "Because it's not just business," she says, "I've reconnected with many friends, and it has helped me to do more, to understand the great potential of our country as an investment opportunity, and best of all, I've found a great family like the AEI (Asociación de Inmobiliarios de Empresas)."
Being a public figure opens doors, although the main advantage she believes is considered is that those who know her recognize her as "a woman of her word, honest, and a shrewd businesswoman, and this generates trust and empathy, two important qualities for a real estate advisor." She adds that she is very approachable, open to conversation, and provides her services with a standard of excellence.
Since the real estate sales model involves networking with colleagues, Nikauly finds it easy to socialize with other agents; on the contrary, she always receives a great deal of trust, openness, and respect, which, she says, paves the way for reaching agreements and achieving win-win situations.
Doing business and advising not only on projects in the Dominican Republic but also in other countries, supporting the nation's development by attracting investment from Dominicans abroad and foreigners so that the country continues to grow as a favorite destination in the region, is on the priority agenda of the renowned communicator.
He reminds new agents that this business requires time, perseverance, consistent work, and networking. "It's about developing our professional skills to provide excellent service and our personal skills to build friendships, not just make clients," he says. He encourages them to value and protect their integrity because it's what can bring longevity, credibility, and success in the wonderful world of real estate.
To continue closing more and more sales, De la Mota announces that he will soon launch his website; in addition, acquiring properties and projects for exclusive sales is his big bet in the exciting world of real estate.
