David James and Marcel Olivares were crowned champions of the second edition of the ABA golf cup, achieving a gross score of 60 strokes to obtain the best gross score of the tournament that had the participation of more than 200 players from the financial and business sector of the country.
The sporting activity was organized by the Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA), whose president, Rosanna Ruiz, highlighted the relevance of the meeting and described it as a platform that promotes institutional integration, fosters sport and opens spaces for networking and collaboration.
The prize for the best net score of the event, held last weekend at the Punta Espada Golf Club, went to Gabriel Marte and José Armando Cuello, who both recorded a net score of 61 strokes. In addition, the day saw a historic moment with the first hole-in-one in the tournament's history, achieved by Piero Silverio, a feat that was enthusiastically celebrated by everyone present.
The tournament was played in a pairs scramble format across three categories on Friday, September 12th and Saturday, September 13th, organized by Golf View and supported by the Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf). In Category A, the winning pairs were César Rodríguez and Luis Matos in first place; Luis Brea and Aníbal Salado in second; and Julio Espínola and Manuel Cohen in third.
Manuel Lehoux and Felipe Suárez took first place in Category B, followed by Piero Silverio and Juan Daniel Pujols in second, and Luis Patiño and Juan Carlos García in third. Meanwhile, Category C was led by Fabio Báez and Héctor Marmolejos; Diego Ramírez and Francisco Ramírez came in second, and Christian del Rosario and Ramón Alcántara finished third.
The success of the second edition of the ABA GOLF CUP would not have been possible without the valuable support of sponsoring companies such as Banco Popular, BHD, Banreservas, Banco Santa Cruz, Cap Cana, Equifax, Sophos, KPMG, Multicomputos, AFI Universal, Scotiabank, Red ATM Triinet, JMMB, Visa, BCG, BDO, Humano, among others.
In addition to the sporting activities, attendees enjoyed artistic evenings that included live performances by the international flamenco pop band Los Gypsies; Shalim Ortiz with the rock band Dos/Veintiséis and the Punta Cana Band with its vocalist Ariel Assad, who brought rhythm and energy.
The tournament reaffirmed the ABA and Golf View's commitment to sporting excellence, strengthening institutional relationships, and promoting golf as an integration tool in the financial sector, both entities said in a press release.
