In Puerto Plata, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated on Monday the reconstruction on the access road to Teco Beach, in the municipal district of Maimón, Puerto Plata province, with an investment of over 117 million pesos.
The project consists of the reconstruction of the access road, which is 3.20 kilometers long and eight meters wide, as well as the sanitation of the entire area of the roadbed, improvement of the pavement structure with riprap and soil-cement stabilization.
It also includes the construction of 4 kilometers of ditches , improvement of the stormwater drainage , reconstruction of existing culvert headwalls, cleaning and lining of ravines, and horizontal and vertical signage.
The official said the project will boost tourism in the area and improve the living conditions of its residents.
“We believe in sustainable tourism that directly impacts communities and their residents,” Collado said.
The access road known as Guzmancito , in the municipal district of Maimón, Puerto Plata, on the way to the renowned Teco Beach, has a social purpose, aimed at solving a problem of poor road conditions.
This situation affects the local population, national and foreign tourists , as well as merchants and tourist agencies in nearby areas that depend on tourist visits.
"With the implementation of this project, visitors and local residents will have greater accessibility to the tourist destination, businesses will be able to increase their income due to a greater flow of tourists, the economy of the sector will improve, managing to attract a larger public," highlights a press release from the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).
The project will be carried out by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), at a total cost of RD$ 117,551,170
CEIZTUR has currently executed 7 projects in the province of Puerto Plata, has 6 in execution and 3 in formulation, for a total of 16 works, which amount to an investment of 1,724 million pesos.
