The Commercial Director of Gerdau Metaldom invites young women to continue
building spaces for future generations.

SANTO DOMINGO – The steel industry has long been considered a
male-dominated field. However, in recent years, female participation has been on the rise. One example of this is Karina Gil, Commercial Director of Gerdau Metaldom, one of the leading steel producers in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean for the construction and industrial sectors.
When answering questions for El Inmobiliario , Gil said that being a woman is "synonymous with
strength, passion and focus on always going the extra mile in all facets of our actions."

This high-end woman invited women to continue working to be role models of tenacity, commitment, dedication, but above all, she urged them to be a "gender that surpasses itself every day and that goes out to play a leading and transformative role every day.".
Gil, who has more than 20 years of experience, stated that she understands that, "more and more, women are occupying the relevant space that corresponds to them within the different areas of society.".
Her career path is evidence that it is possible to occupy high-impact positions within different industries, especially those that have historically been led by men.
She stated that she feels honored to represent them in such an important sector as steel. Referring to the significance of International Women's Day, for which El Inmobiliario has developed the "High-End Women" series, she noted that "while it seeks to recognize our contributions, it doesn't define who we are or what motivates us.".
However, despite highlighting the progress they've made over the years, he stated that there's always room for improvement. "It's a heroic journey, and we're increasingly earning recognition for our work.".
She asserted that women have a multiplying role. "As a gender, we have demonstrated our ability to play multiple roles, with undeniable levels of passion and commitment. We are an example of resilience, we foster mutual respect between generations, and we contribute to building a more just society oriented toward achieving common goals.".
Gil praised the work done by her successors and highlighted that the new generation of women has found a fertile path, which is still under construction.
Therefore, he indicated that "they have the responsibility to continue gaining ground, achieving victories and, above all, betting on a better future for the next generations.".
