PUNTA CANA - In the Dominican Republic, investing in a property for short-term rental could yield a return of between 14 and 18%, in addition to capital gains, according to international expert Jorge Carbonel, Principal Regional Operator of Keller Williams Mexico, who gave a conference this weekend in this tourist destination.
The expert praised the favorable climate the country offers for foreign capital and highlighted that "tax benefits and the high percentage of financing offered by banking entities is a boon for foreign investors.".
Carbonel came to the country invited by Keller Williams Punta Cana, as part of the experts who spoke about the book "The Millionaire Investor", authored by Gary Keller, founder of the international franchise; in whose event national and international agents participated.
He called on real estate agents to take the leap into investment by learning the formulas and best practices, after stating that "The best deals are made without money, by finding opportunities and with decisiveness.".
He explained the reasons for investing: “It is the best way to leverage your finances, it is the right market moment, there is accessible financing for wealth growth, tax benefits, cash flow and creativity.”.

He said that real estate agents need to be trained on the subject because selling paradise isn't enough for buyers these days. “Give me a compelling argument to justify owning multiple properties. Then you have to become a consultant because, in addition to meeting the client's needs, you must convince them to become an investor, so they won't just be buying one property, but several.”.
In his dissertation, he argued that investment is passive income to finance one's life mission without needing to work for it or in parallel with work activity.
“If you understand that you are an investor, you will change your objective and your goals. An investor makes calculated investments and does not take excessive risks. A millionaire investor has an empowered mindset, big goals, great habits, money is not the only thing that matters, they have wealth growth, real estate, value, opportunities, negotiations, and persistent action,” he described, based on Gary Keller’s Blue Book.
He continued offering investment tips, maintaining that one must "be open to opportunities, take advantage of them, and close deals.".
He opined that when a real estate agent becomes an investor, they offer added value. “You build financial well-being, you gain greater credibility, and you increase your value proposition to clients.”.
He urged those who want to become investors to surround themselves with successful investors. "With just a few investors, you can have a source of income for life.".
