SANTO DOMINGO EAST. – The Santo Domingo East Builders Association (Acosde) met with the newly elected mayor of this district, Dio Astacio, where its representatives raised the need to simplify the bureaucratic processes for obtaining construction permits, also requesting that compliance with safety and quality standards be ensured.
The meeting involved exchanging views on the review and updating of construction and urban planning regulations, as well as planning various actions aimed at promoting development and improving the quality of life in Santo Domingo Este (SDE).
The meeting, held in the mayor's office, seeks to establish a direct and effective communication channel between the municipal administration and the builders, who play a crucial role in the urban and economic development of the city.
Dio Astacio, in his capacity as mayor, expressed his commitment to working hand in hand with the various actors in the construction sector to ensure that future projects are aligned with the municipality's sustainable development plans.
As a focal point, the directors of the Association expressed their concerns regarding the new temporary procedure for processing construction permits - pouring, implemented by the Mayor's Office recently, which Mayor Astacio stated would only apply to informal constructions, as he explained to the Acosde delegation.
The city councilor and the construction companies agreed to establish a permanent working group between the Mayor's office and Acosde to ensure equitable and fair resolutions for construction companies in the sector. This forum will also serve to monitor the progress of proposed initiatives and continuously coordinate efforts between the two entities.
“The meeting between the Santo Domingo East Builders Association and the mayor marks a milestone in public-private collaboration in the municipality. The actions and agreements resulting from this meeting have the potential to significantly transform the city with a shared vision and a firm commitment; both parties will work together to make Santo Domingo East a more prosperous, sustainable, and safe city for all its inhabitants,” a press release states.
Present at the meeting were the president of the Riubell Montes de Oca association, accompanied by its vice president, Pedro Molina, the general secretary, Diógenes Cruz, as well as those in charge of the committees that are part of the board of directors of the aforementioned entity.
