SANTO DOMINGO. -The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation ( INTRANT ) announced yesterday, Monday, that from March 23 to 25, changes will be made to some traffic routes in the city of Santo Domingo, due to the XXVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The interruptions will be intermittent during the three days and include several streets in the sectors of Bella Vista, La Julia, Mata Hambre, Centro de los Héroes, Villa María, Zona Universitaria, Gazcue, Ciudad Nueva, Ciudad Colonial and Sans Soucí.
In this regard, the institution called for the public's understanding and support regarding the temporary changes, urging them to avoid the aforementioned areas and use alternate routes during the Summit. It also invited all citizens to stay informed of all details regarding road changes through its social media channels @intrant_rd and WhatsApp line 849-455-2772.
Measures
Among the measures adopted for the designated days, parking will not be allowed in the previously identified areas, and citizens are urged to be attentive to garbage collection when the truck passes through their area, so that the circulation of these trucks is brief.
The INTRANT statement also establishes that agents from the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transport ( DIGESETT ) will be providing special assistance to facilitate mobility and transit during those days.
It is also reported that the closures of sections and roads will be carried out in coordination with the businesses and residents of the impacted environment and the capital's residents are advised to plan their departures with the appropriate time margin, according to their travel needs.
The Ibero-American Summit is the highest-level political meeting of the 22 countries that make up the Ibero-American Conference, the most important forum for integration and cooperation in this region. These countries are: Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
The Dominican Republic, as head of the Pro Tempore Secretariat of the Ibero-American Conference, will lead the dialogue during the Summit to reach agreements that seek to address the main challenges and obstacles of the region, striving through cooperation for development and the path towards a fairer and more sustainable Ibero-America.
