SANTO DOMINGO.- The country's average hotel occupancy rate for December 2023 is 77.7%, according to statistics from the Tourism Intelligence System (Situr) of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.
Data published on the official website of Mitur establishes that the figures were updated to December 10th, with Romana-Bayahibe being the area with the highest percentage of visitors at 86.5% occupancy.
Bávaro, Punta Cana, follows with 84.2% of guests, Santiago de los Caballeros has 66.3%, Greater Santo Domingo 62.9%, Samaná 59.8%, Puerto Plata 58.8%, Sosúa-Cabarete 57.5% and Boca Chica-Juan Dolio 52%.

The figures from Mitur maintain that in January there was an average occupancy of 76.7% in the various facilities intended for the accommodation of visitors in the Dominican nation.
In the second month of 2023, the number of guests increased, reaching 80.5% occupancy. In March it reached 76.8%; in April 76.1%, and in May occupancy fell to 68.4%, according to figures on the website of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.
In the sixth month of the year, the figure increased, compared to the previous month, to 71% occupancy; in July it increased to 75.2%, falling in August to 69.1%; in September, the occupancy of Dominican hotels reached 56.8% of visitors, while last October it reached 60.7% occupancy.
In November, the number of guests in Dominican hotels reached 73.6%, while on the 10th of the current month it remained at 77.7%.
