PUNTA CANA - Grupo Piñero announced the reopening of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, located in this tourist hub in the East of the country, and whose renovation amounted to more than 30 million euros and included a comprehensive refurbishment "that has raised the standard, highlighting the renovation of its 570 rooms and common areas," according to the company.
The hotel chain, which claims to have the largest number of rooms in properties across the country, highlights in a press release the addition of new room categories such as the Junior Suite Deluxe Swim Up, new culinary offerings, a sports bar, as well as special amenities that respond to the latest trends in the tourism sector.
"With this new offering, guests will enjoy enhanced facilities with practical and contemporary architecture, reflecting the tropical surroundings and including two new culinary experiences, unique to the hotel chain's portfolio: Taino Restaurant and Mongolian Restaurant. This offering is complemented by a more elegant theater and a new kids' club right next to the Water Park, so the whole family can enjoy a complete experience," the brand explains.
Grupo Piñero explains that the biggest transformation is the incorporation of "Alma Taína," a concept that immerses visitors in this rich culture through architecture, experiences, and gastronomy. "This unique approach is reflected in the hotel's seven restaurants, each representing a distinct themed experience: a main international buffet, Taíno, Indian, Brazilian, Mongolian, and a snack bar at the beach restaurant. In addition, hotel guests will have access to more than 26 restaurants specializing in different cuisines, 34 bars, and the nine swimming pools at the other hotels in the Bávaro complex, thus guaranteeing a complete experience.".
At the heart of the hotel, the press release explains, every corner is imbued with the essence of the Taíno concept. The lobby and main dining area recreate the residence of the cacique, the community leader, while the restaurants draw inspiration from the activities of the naborías , who worked as fishermen, farmers, and artisans. “This meticulous design promises a unique experience, where each space tells a story and contributes to total immersion in this cultural heritage.”
Genaro Benítez, country manager in the Dominican Republic for Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, expressed his enthusiasm for the modernization and comfort offered to guests, underlining the deeper connection between the hotel's concept and its surroundings.
“The rebirth of the Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda hotel, now under the Alma Taína concept, not only redefines our facilities, but also seeks to weave an experience where culture, essence, and life experiences intertwine. Our staff, a key part of the company, embarks on the mission of providing each family with a unique and memorable experience,” explained Benítez.
He added that one of the main purposes of the Grupo Piñero hotel chain is for guests to be able to perceive in each of the hotels the essence and roots of the destinations where they are located, with a view to highlighting the culture and richness of each place.
A meeting of flavors and cultures
At the hotel you will find an innovative gastronomic offer that promises a unique culinary experience: Taíno and Mongolian cuisine, where local ingredients are combined with Caribbean flavors and Mediterranean touches.
At Taíno restaurant, you'll discover indigenous roots with dishes based on corn, yucca, sweet potato, fish, and seafood, and experience Spanish influence with creative fusions, creating a unique connection with the rich gastronomic history of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.
On the other hand, at the Mongolian restaurant, you travel to the vast plains of Mongolia through nomadic flavors. Visitors can savor a fusion of traditional techniques with local Caribbean products, from "buuz" dumplings to meats cooked on hot stones, providing an experience inspired by the cosmopolitan trends of cities like New York and London.
Both proposals highlight the freshness of local ingredients, emphasizing the uniqueness of each culture and adapted to their respective historical and geographical environments.
Entertainment
The hotel group states that, with the aim of offering experiences for the whole family to enjoy, the hotel has revamped its entertainment offerings with the concept of themed activities and shows throughout the week. Among these, Matum stands out—an immersive performance, unique in the Dominican Republic, created and produced by the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts entertainment team. This outdoor show, featuring light, sound, and projection mapping effects, showcases more than 30 artists who, through dance and movement, tell the story of the Taíno culture and its evolution, making use of the four elements: fire, water, air, and earth.
Betting on sustainability
The press release adds that, with the purpose of further strengthening its commitment to sustainability, the Piñero Group continues to implement actions in the different destinations where it operates, aimed at energy efficiency and the sustainable management of the territory's natural resources and values.
In this regard, it is worth noting that Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda stands out for its focus on water conservation through an ultrafiltration system, waste management for reuse, as well as its "zero plastic" policy, with a view to reducing environmental impact.
Similarly, the hotel states that it prioritizes environmentally responsible management, with more integrated, intelligent, and sustainable spaces. "Proof of this lies in the initiatives implemented in landscape restoration, preserving endemic species as the focal point of the hotel's landscape, and the implementation of modern home automation systems in its rooms, which significantly contribute to energy savings.".
