Cibao Region Government delivers 64 new homes in Santiago

Government delivers 64 new homes in Santiago

In Los Salados, Santiago de los Caballeros, the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), delivered 64 new apartments today, Sunday, which are part of the Mi Vivienda program implemented by the Government.

This is the fifth delivery made by Mivhed in Los Salados, bringing the total to 492 beneficiary families and thus achieving 80% of the total project delivered by the current administration.

The program, which has generated more than 1,300 direct jobs, benefits more than 2,100 people, involving an investment exceeding RD$1,505 million.

During the handover ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Construction of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MIVHED), Danny Santos, stated that the state agency has delivered more than 5,200 apartments to people and that "we will continue to deliver, because we are convinced of the transformative power of this administration so that what is happening today in Los Salados can reach the entire country.".

In addition to the construction of residential buildings, the development will feature 7,821.84 m2 of green areas, 1,314.84 m2 of institutional spaces, a basketball court, a playground, a parking area for cars and motorcycles, an exercise area, and more than 1,916 m2 of recreational area.

The Mi Vivienda Los Salados project includes the construction of 656 units, 560 three-bedroom apartments and 96 two-bedroom apartments.

With this new delivery, 64 families will go from being tenants to becoming owners of their homes.

The program

Los Salados is part of the My Housing Plan, announced by the Abinader Government, which stipulates the construction of more than 7,400 apartments distributed between Santiago and Santo Domingo.

The president took the opportunity to have lunch in one of the newly delivered homes with Maria Muñoz Peña and her daughter Ashley, who were among the families who benefited.

During the handover of the keys, President Abinader was accompanied by First Lady Raquel Arbaje; Senator Eduardo Estrella, from Santiago and former President of the Senate; Governor Rosa María Santos; Deputy Business Administrator of Banco de Reservas, Ysidro García; Deputy Minister of Finance of the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency, Igor Rodríguez Durán; and Executive Director of Proindustria, Ulises Rodríguez.

Also present were the Dominican Republic's ambassador to Washington, Sonia Guzmán; the General Manager of EDENORTE, Andrés Cueto; and Francisco Díaz García, Representative for the Province of Santiago de Los Caballeros, among other authorities.

The blessing of the homes was carried out by the Reverend Father Felipe Enerio, of the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord.
