It projects to fly 1.5 million passengers by 2024.
SANTO DOMINGO.- Starting June 21, 2024, the airline Arajet will double the number of seats available between Santo Domingo and the destinations it flies to in Ecuador ( Quito and Guayaquil), according to an announcement by the airline that began operations in the country last year.
Manuel Luna, Chief Communication Officer of Arajet, made the announcement during the celebration of the airline's first year of operations in the city of Guayaquil, connecting the José Joaquín Olmedo International Airport with the Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo.
Luna indicated that, starting June 21, Arajet will increase its flights to Ecuador from two per week to four, "and with better schedules.".
"I am excited to announce that, thanks to the strong performance of the Ecuadorian market, we will be resuming direct flights between Santo Domingo and Guayaquil and Santo Domingo and Quito, increasing the number of seats available weekly between the Dominican Republic and Ecuador to approximately 1,500," Arajet stated in a press release.
The general manager of the Guayaquil Airport Terminal (TAGSA), Ángel Córdova, said that for Guayaquil, the Dominican airline has represented an opportunity with a positive impact on the direct connectivity of that city with another country, which did not exist before.
For his part, the Dominican Republic's ambassador to Ecuador, Luis Kalaff, stated that thanks to Arajet there has been an increase in the number of Ecuadorian tourists visiting the Dominican Republic and vice versa, as well as greater dynamism in trade exchanges between the two countries.
Luna also highlighted that "Arajet's mission is to consolidate itself as the preferred low-cost airline for Ecuadorians and all Latin Americans"; furthermore, she emphasized that they are fulfilling their promise to democratize the skies of the region, offering the best prices and the opportunity to travel safely, in new aircraft, with high-quality onboard service and highly competitive prices.
The airline executive stated that Ecuadorians flying with Arajet will enjoy the Dominican Republic, its historic city of Santo Domingo, "the first city in the Americas," as well as its tropical beaches just 20 minutes from the airport, such as Boca Chica or Juan Dolio, and Bayahibe, 45 minutes away.
He also highlighted Arajet's extensive route network with 22 destinations in 16 countries, more than 150 connections in North, Central and South America, and that they also offer a bus service to Punta Cana at no additional cost, in a journey of less than two hours.
Arajet has managed to interconnect the entire continent at the lowest cost and with operational safety, and projects to fly 1.5 million passengers by 2024.
In addition, the airline is consolidating a robust air connection hub in Santo Domingo, with increasingly convenient flights and fares to enhance connectivity between the Americas and the Caribbean.
