Taken from Listín Diario

SANTO DOMINGO.- Commercial banks across the country began announcing new hours for their in-person operations starting today, January 3, 2022, as a preventative measure against the increase in flu and Covid-19 infections.

The measure responds to a call from the Association of Commercial Banks (ABA), which, in turn, since it is a temporary flexibility measure, recommends that they notify the Superintendency of Banks of their schedules in a particular way, since not all are affected in the same way.

The announcements are being published by each bank on their social media .
Banco BHD-León will operate all its branches from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday. It will be closed on Sundays. However, it has established different hours for branches in shopping malls and other locations. This January 6th, Three Kings' Day, it will be open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The drive-through banking service operates from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday.

Depending on the location, BHD León operates from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays at Ágora Mall. At Blue Mall, the hours are from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays. At the Bravo Los Frailes, Carrefour, Hipermercados Olé, Luperón Multiplazas, and La Sirena Puerto Plata III and Super Pola Las Terrenas supermarkets, the hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays.

At Bella Vista Mall I, Downtown Center, Megacentro, Galerías 360, Homs, Luperón II, Patio Colombia, San Juan Shopping Center, Unibe, and Sambil, the hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. For drive-through banking services in general, the new hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays.

Prevention
The ABA reported on Thursday that these provisions are supported by resolution 018-21 of the Superintendency of Banks, issued on December 30.

Resolution
018-21 of the Superintendency of Banks authorizes financial intermediation entities (EIF) and exchange intermediaries to adopt the necessary provisions to prevent the spread of Covid-19, whose omicron variant is circulating in the country.

Teleworking
The aforementioned resolution indicates that multiple banks may enable remote work for staff they deem necessary and possible.

Last Thursday, the Dominican Republic Association of Commercial Banks (ABA) announced that, in accordance with the resolution of the Superintendency of Banks, a new banking schedule will be in effect starting today.

The temporary changes to customer service hours, the ABA said, are part of the measures to safeguard the well-being of users and employees in the sector and thus prevent the spread of Covid-19, whose Omicron variant is circulating in the country. The Superintendency's resolution is 018-2.
