SANTO DOMINGO.- The Ministries of Environment and Natural Resources, Culture and Tourism will head the presidential commission for the Pomier Caves, according to decree 457-25 , issued by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.
Last July, the Executive Branch issued decree number 403-25 , creating the commission, with a view to the continuous strengthening of conservation efforts and responsible use of this important reserve, instructing the coordination and installation of infrastructure for public use and ecotourism in its surroundings, always seeking to highlight and conserve the unique characteristics of this natural and cultural heritage .
The new decree modifies the integration of the Presidential Commission of the Pomier Caves , resulting in the following composition: a president, appointed by decree; the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism; the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (Egehid) and four members appointed by decree.
According to the decree, Samir Rizek Sued Sonia Alejandra Perozo Barinas as executive director . The four members appointed by decree are Manuel Antonio García Arévalo, Santiago Adolfo Camarena Torres, Pavel Giordano García Matos, and Domingo Alfonso Abreu Collado.
The Commission will be responsible for coordinating the necessary actions for the installation of the required physical structures, always respecting the scientific, educational and cultural of the area, as well as its environmental value.
