SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Republic is a destination for those who prefer the warm climate the country offers year-round. It is a country where “the climate is tropically warm all year round.”
This is highlighted by the German specialized publication Holidaycheck, where the country was selected as one of the “10 best destinations to travel to in December 2025”.
The review points out that December is usually the "darkest month of the year and at the same time one of the months full of Christmas and New Year's preparations," so they consider it a "good reason to take a well-deserved break before or during the holidays.".
In December, they indicate, “an air temperature of 30 degrees Celsius can be safely expected with a humidity of around 75 percent,” emphasizing that in Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Bayahibe or Bavaro, the water is around 27 degrees Celsius.
Furthermore, the German publication Holidaycheck points out that it rains much less in winter than in summer, "so a December holiday is usually trouble-free." They also add that in December, it's possible to enjoy a variety of activities, such as excursions to smaller islands, whale watching (starting in January), or swimming with dolphins. Finally, they highlight that the nightlife is also very lively.
