The embassy in Jamaica brought the owners of the Sandals Resort International , with the aim of presenting different tourist destinations and investment opportunities.
The delegation was headed by owner and CEO Adam Stewart, CEO Gebhard Rainer, and members of the Executive Committee. Also present were representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ProDominicana, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (DGAA).
During their visit to the country, the Jamaican met with President Luis Abinader , who referred to Adam Stewart's father, Gordon Butch Stewart, as a "legend" of the tourism industry and a source of pride for the world.

The delegation was able to visit several areas of the country, including Punta Cana, Miches, and Las Terrenas. “We thoroughly enjoyed our brief but fruitful stay in the Dominican Republic and wish to thank our hosts, especially President Abinader. When leadership at the highest levels takes the time to discuss the potential of tourism and investment opportunities, one realizes they have found a like-minded collaborator,” Stewart noted.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Angie Martinez said that the plans for the investment mission had been underway for some time and that it had been of great importance to her tenure at the Embassy in Jamaica.
“Our dream is to bring the prestigious Sandals brand to our country, the Dominican Republic. I am honored by the visit and excited by the possibility that our nation will become the first Spanish-speaking Caribbean country to welcome this prestigious brand,” said Ambassador Martinez.
Through a post on his Instagram account, Adam Stewart highlighted the privilege of having been invited to the Dominican Republic.
